How Dry Ice Blasting Works

Solid CO₂ pellets, accelerated to supersonic speed, clean through kinetic force, thermal shock and sublimation — leaving nothing behind but the dirt they removed.

The Cleaning Mechanism

Three Forces.
One Clean Pass.

Dry ice pellets are propelled through a nozzle using compressed air. On impact, three things happen simultaneously.

01 — Kinetic Impact

Thousands of pellets strike the surface at high velocity, physically dislodging dirt, grease and residue on contact.

02 — Thermal Shock

At -78.5°C, the extreme cold makes contaminants brittle, so they crack and separate cleanly from the substrate.

03 — Sublimation Lift-Off

Pellets convert instantly from solid to gas, expanding up to 800x in volume — lifting loosened contamination clear of the surface.

On-Site Process

From Call-Out To Clean

A straightforward, mobile process — we bring everything needed straight to your site.

01

Assess

We review your surface, equipment or facility and confirm the right pressure & pellet settings for the job.

02

Mobilise

Our fully-equipped mobile rig arrives on-site — no need to transport machinery or shut down the plant.

03

Blast

Dry ice pellets are applied directly to the target surface — dry, controlled, and precise.

04

Inspect & Handover

Surface is ready for immediate use — no drying time, no rinsing, no secondary clean-up required.

Why It's Different

Safer For Your People.
Safer For Your Equipment.

Dry ice blasting was developed for exactly the situations where sandblasting, chemicals and water can't be used.

  • Non-abrasive — zero wear on bearings, delicate electronics, or oak barrel grain. Nothing is ground away.
  • 100% dry process — completely moisture-free, so it's safe to use around live electrical DB boards.
  • HACCP & food safe — sub-zero sanitizing with zero chemical taint on food-contact surfaces, using high-quality 5x purified food-grade dry ice.
  • Eco-friendly — CO₂ pellets sublimate into gas on contact, leaving no secondary waste stream to dispose of.
  • In-place cleaning — no machinery breakdown required, drastically cutting plant downtime.
The Comparison

Dry Ice vs. Traditional Methods

See how CO₂ blasting stacks up against sandblasting, chemical cleaning & pressure washing.
